Chesapeake Neighbors was founded in 2007 to advance the idea that safe, affordable, and accessible homes are fundamental to a high quality of life, and that people with a disability and people with limited incomes deserve the same living opportunities as anyone else. What started with one house in Anne Arundel County has grown to over 30 affordable, accessible homes across Anne Arundel County and the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Chesapeake Neighbors is committed to expanding access and increasing opportunities to quality, affordable, and accessible housing to people with a disability and those with lower incomes.

Development of housing for people with I/DD should be the primary mission of the company versus an afterthought

All homes have a standard feature of “visitability”

Smart technology is a standard feature, which permits aging in place

Individuals are at forefront of housing development discussion versus not even at the table.  CN’s board membership includes four individuals with I/DD
